I am exhausted, the girls have got me back up after midnight 4 times this week. When I say the girls on three of those it was Kandi, she is too interested in finding out by smell who was walking in the field before her on our late night walk(9 ish) and then has to go to toilet 2 to 3 hours later. Last night it was men on a shoot up on one of the mountains, I had the window open and it was Kandi barking at the shots woke me, Saffron had already left the bedroom to hide in the stair well. Kandi stopped barking at my fist word and came and hid her head in my armpit. So I got up shut the window and took them downstairs where they sat as close to me as they could for about half an hour when they suddenly relaxed, wandered off and went to sleep. I assume that the hunt had stopped by then but I left it an other half hour before getting us all back to bed. The shoot was probably after a fox or foxes. WE still let our sheep roam free on the mountain moorlands. Any how back to the subject. Day 11 I did manage to do some thing artistic, It doesn't shoe up very well but it looks horible when it is autocolour enhanced.

I present my version in pastel.

And after my late night last night I defaulted to more ear rings, I can do those in my sleep.

The answer to yesterday's Guess Who was The Psammead or Sand Fairy a being millions of years old who at one time could grant wishes but having been buried for millenia in a sand pit is a little rusty and can only grant one wish a day. The five children who found it have to agree on their one wish a day but even when they manage that things still go wrong. Today I have sketched an old farm house half way up a mountain from a picture I took from the valley bottom. I'm not good at drawing trees, I can paint them but not draw them.

This farm house is said to be a farm owned and run by the monks of Llantarnum Grange (Cistercians) about 11 miles from here. The abbey was founded in the 12 th century and was dissolved in the 16th century by Henry VIII. As 'proof' the locals sight the 'Norman' window in one of the gable ends, one that can't be seen from the valley so I invoke artistic licence and put it in. So here I present Chapel Farm

I had a busy day yesterday. First I slept late and it was my morning to walk my dogs and Losyn . as I was dressing I had a call from a friend who needed help putting a room back in order after work was done. She has 3 broken vertebrae(osteoporosis) and muscle damage to her back too so can only do things very slowly she had spent most of last week moving some of her books back into her living room 3 at a time. So I walked the dogs came home had lunch packed my dogs into the car and between 2 pm and 8 pm managed to get her living room sorted under her direction. This did involve several coffee breaks some gossip and a dinner break, also some cat cuddling, dog petting and walking and ornament mending. As a result all I could offer was a night time photo of the garden.

Today was Beth's turn to walk the trio so I spent that time sketching a character from a classic children's novel. Have a guess and I will tell you in tomorrows post who he is.

I wanted to do this on my Teazle plant but the stems weren't strong enough. I have gathered together a selection of the necklaces and hung them from the ivy on my garden wall.

Late today and not what I intended. I've been out shopping with cousin A at a small outlet village near us. We started with an early brunch in the cafe at the entrance, then hit the shops only to discover that a shop we usually hit (china and glass) had closed and found a craft shop had opened, not a chain a group of local young ladies had opened it. They cater for knitters, jewelry makers and card and paper crafters. Cousin A fell in love with a string roughly cubed c hunks of polished Carnelian, 13 pieces for £1.99 13 cubes roughly 1 cm cubed (that's just over 3 dollars). I've been trying since 2pm to find a way of stringing them that would make them long enough for a necklace and that looked right. Three times I've strung them with different spacer beads and nothing looked right. I have finally found a way that pleases me and the effort has left me with out the energy or inspiration so the necklace is my work for today.

I got some inspiration from [personal profile] tattooedraven 's latest creation, that beautiful bracelet she has just posted, and tried to make something similar my style of beading. I didn't have the materials to make it as long as hers but I think it could be called similar.

It is the last remaining arch of a viaduct a long defunct railay from the west to the east side of the valley . The blank spaces are ivy covered tree trunks. If I feel more alive tomoorw I will paint.

Real life

Did I mention my fridge freezer gave up the ghost while I was away two weeks ago. Swell the insurance I had for it's repair finally coughed up the money they pay out when They can't repair it. |And when I say money I mean a £95 gift voucher for Comet Electrics thus giving me no choice but to go there. Any way I went off to the out of town trading estate in Newport which hold my nearest store to discover don't dot the 5ft 6ins. fridge freezer any more only 6ft ones which won't fit in my pantry. so I had a look round and found an under the counter freezer and a counter top fridge. The two together came to less than a fridge/freezer and the fridge is just the right size for a single person. The freezer won't be delivered until Sept 4th but I can live without it 'til then and the fridge will be delivered Friday. On leaving the shop I noticed the furniture store opposite was having a sale so I went over to look at the prices of their matreses and got a £200 for £99. I got home fed the dogs and went to see if Sarah needed me to cook her dinner to fiend one of her church friends with her who was already cooking, so I took Barney for a walk.

So that gave me some time to attempt a Harmony drawing of Saffron. At least it looks vaguely dog like.
The picture is bigger than I thought )

Since I will be out trying to draw from life tomorrow I had a go at my monochrome to day. I some how managed to drip water on the finished paint under the brige and that square in the water is the result.

This comes from the same book as yesterday. His hands and face look odd because I was trying to be clever and give him golden eyes but they were too large and blobby so as I was using ink and I couldn't paint over it with watercolour I painted his skin golden in stead.

I have had a very busy day today, doing every thing I should have done yesterday and every thing I had to do today, The base sketch for this was done between grocery shopping and lunch and the shading done when I got back home about an hour ago and I needed more time.

Today was spent in a 6 hour binge of retail therapy, so I had very liitle energy and almost no time to do anything for today. So what I have done is the out line sketch for what I hope will be my final masterpeiece for this month. It will be that or a complete disaster. It will be a monochrome watercolour. The sketch is very shopped as it is barely there in the original.

This is a drawing of a local place but taken many years ago. It is actually a sketch of a pastel drawing of a photo as the photo was in the computer before the one I'm using now.
